Publication Profile
Published since 1980, Japanese Guide to Hawaii is a monthly visitor publication, available at no charge to visitors from Japan throughout the island of Oahu. We distribute up to 660,000 copies annually; 53,000 - 55,000 copies per month. The format is 120 - 128 pages, magazine size and style with full color, glossy stock. To offset higher printing costs and hold advertising rates down, we print on a bimonthly print schedule (two months at a time), but billing is done on a monthly basis. Advertising must run in two consecutive issues. Please see 2003 deadline schedule for issue deadline information.

Japanese Guide to Hawaii was rated #1 in Market Penetration and Readership over 30 other Japan-based and Hawaii-based publications by the 2002 OmniTrak Japanese media survey. JGH has come in first or close second in readership among Hawaii-based publications for 13 of the 14 years OmniTrak has conducted the survey. Among Hawaii-based publications JGH also came in first for longest reading time, pass-on rate, referral rate, satisfaction and most useful source of information. An astounding 90 percent of our clients renew their contracts each year, and over one hundred businesses have been advertising in JGH for more than two years, several for 12-15 years. With an estimated 2x - 3x pass on readership level; Japanese Guide to Hawaii is read by over 1.2 - 1.5 million visitors annually.

Sectionalized Approach

Japanese Guide to Hawaii features complete advertising sections on Shopping, Dining, Sightseeing, Activities, Golf, Services, Real Estate and Renting a Car. The car rental section is complete with drive maps, driving laws and safety tips, plus complete Honolulu to Waikiki maps with advertiser directory and two page Oahu map. We feel with these complete advertising sections and interesting editorial features, our publication has more retention value for the visitor from Japan. They hold onto and use our publication the entire time theyユre here in Hawaii.

◆ Please Note - Translated computer digital files are preferable to negatives. Any ad requiring production services by publisher such as translation services, changing existing copy in the ad, adding maps, and color scan from slide or transparency must be submitted by the Materials & Editorial deadline. Advertiser editorial, Press Release and Calendar of Events information should be submitted by the Materials & Editorial deadline or earlier for consideration.

* Digital Files: For ads under a full page, we prefer computer digital files (translated and finished layout) and then we will output the ad within the publication full page layout. There is minimal charge for film output because the printer does charge us, but our prices are very reasonable. For any ad that requires translation and production services, an estimate will be provided.

Full Page Ads can be submitted as translated camera ready with color proof by the later deadline.
